Chinchilla Hose Company firefighters responded to a Newton Township on Thursday to assist the Newton Ransom Fire Department on a mid morning chimney fire. The mutual aid box came in a 10:59 and brought Engine 2, Rescue 2, Tanker 2 and Ambulance 2-9 to the scene of the fire. Chief 8A arrived on scene at 11:04 and established command. Engine 2 arrived on scene and isolated the fire to the chimney with no extension to the house. Station 2 crews teamed up with firefighters from Newton Ransom and Clarks Summit to quickly bring the situation under control. All crews returned to service at 11:52.
