On Tuesday January 19, 2010 at approximately 0409 hours an automatic fire alarm box was struck for 1101 Northern Boulevard at the Inn at Nichols Village in South Abington Township. South Abington Police Car 2-2 (J. Waters) arrived on scene and reported a smoke condition on division 4. Chief 2A (Connolly) requested a 2nd alarm due to the Hotel being occupied and the smoke condition. After units began to arrive and investigate, the source of the smoke was located coming from a roof top HVAC unit. The source was contained to the roof top HVAC unit. Units cleared the scene after ventilating and checking for extension at approximately 0522 hours. Assistant Chief Connolly had the Command 1st Alarm Engine 2 Rescue 2 Ambulance 2-9 Car 2 South Abington Police 2nd Alarm Engine 2-1 Engine 23 Engine 4 Engine 36 Engine 8 Ladder 23 (Had to be requested due to a box alarm error) Ladder 5 Ladder 4 Tanker 28 Ambulance 28-9 |

At approximately 1450 hours on Friday January 8, 2010 Station 2, Ladder 23, CLS 3 and Ambulance 28-9 were dispatched to the 200 block of Scott Road for a reported structure fire. Chief 2 arrived on scene with in minutes reporting a working fire in a 3 story residential structure and requesting Engine 4 and Tanker 28 to the scene. After confirming that all residents were out of the building Chief 2 advised all units no one was to enter until proper ventilation could be done. Engine 2 and Rescue 2 arrived on scene and began to ventilate and prepare to make an attack. Ladder 23 arrived and went to work assisting with the ventilation. Crews began to attack the fire and were encountered with “Collyer Mansion” type conditions through out the residence. Crews found heavy fire on division 2 and 3. Command requested ALL units out of the structure and the “EVAC” tones be activated. All units were accounted for and regrouped. Crews knocked down the bulk of the fire and then went back to an interior operation to complete overhaul and extinguish the hot spots. Crews cleared the scene at approximately 1759 hours. Ambulance 2-9 and CLS 3 transported one patient to a local hospital for evaluation. The PSP Fire Marshal was called to investigate the fire.
