On Friday evening August 28th at 22:48 Chinchilla Hose Company firefighters were dispatched to a motor vehicle accident on Interstate 81 South mile marker 194.  Chief 2A (Connolly) with Car 2 requested Ambulance 4-9 to the scene as initial reports stated three people injured.
Chief 2B (Grierson) arrived on scene first to find a single vehicle crash in the construction zone on the opposite side of the cement “jersey” barriers.  He confirmed the need for both Ambulances 2-9 and 4-9 as the scene was accessed.  There were numerous drop-offs in the roadway as bridge and roadway repairs were underway.   Chief 2B worked to find a safe way into the scene for all apparatus and requested Rescue 2 to set up the light tower immediately upon their arrival on scene.
Car 2 arrived on scene and assumed command.  Ambulances 4-9, Rescue 2 and Ambulance 2-9 and CLS ALS arrived on scene and worked to package all patients.  All three occupants of the vehicle were transported to CMC.
Command was terminated at 00:02.
